The district of Tooting is located within the London Borough of Wandsworth, in south West London. The area is situated 8 kilometres southwest of Charing Cross.

The history of Tooting dates as far back as pre-Saxon period. There was a Roman Road, which was later renamed Stane Street passing through the area to link London with Chichester. The park is home to Tooting Bec Lido. It is the second largest open-air swimming pool in the UK, opened in 1906.
